Description Postdoctoral scholar position at UC Irvine in the area of remote sensing of fires and terrestrial ecosystems.

A postdoctoral scholar position is available at the University of California, Irvine, in the field of terrestrial remote sensing. The successful candidate will conduct analysis of satellite imagery to assess the influence of climate and ecosystem moisture status on fire dynamics as a part of a NASA-funded project.

Strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Experience working with Landsat, Sentinel, or similar moderate or high-resolution satellite imagery is required, along with a strong background in using scripting languages such as Python, Matlab, R, ArcGIS, or Interactive Data Language. Experience with managing large geospatial data sets or the application of machine learning is desired. A Ph.D. in geography, earth science, engineering, or a related discipline is required. The postdoctoral scholar is expected to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of scientists from UCI, Woods Hole Research Center, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and other institutions.
