Organisation: University of Strasbourg

The MDIS-2019 Workshop (Deformation Measurements by Earth Observation Techniques, ForM@Ter) is a biennal seminar which objective is to federate researchers, engineers and students interested in the observation of the Earth Surface deformation with satellite images (radar interferometry radar, image correlation, stereo-photogrammetry) with applications in the seismic cycle, the volcanic cycle, landslides, the cryosphere, and reservoirs.

The 5th edition of the MDIS seminar will be held in Strasbourg and La Petite-Pierre from 14 to 18 October 2019.

The seminar is organized in two stages:

  • a 2.5-days Autumn School (organized in Strasbourg, on the premises of the University), whose objectives are to carry out demonstrations of analysis codes (satellite processing algorithms, modeling tools) through practical works; we have currently 8 training sessions planned on several topics linked to InSAR processing, image correlation, massive computing, data mining, and géophysical inversion.
  • a 2.5-days Conference (organized at La Petite Pierre), whose objectives are to present scientific results on the theme, with an organization in thematic sessions/ presentations (invited, abstract). The themes of the MDIS-2019 conference are focused on: (1) Satellite signal processing for information retrieval, (2) Geophysical interpretation of the deformation, (3) Future satellite misions, and massive big data processing. Several invited speakers will introduce the sessions: F. Gascon (ESA), F. de Zan (DLR), T. Wright (Univ. of Leeds), A. Dille (Univ. Brusels), L. Libert (ENVEO), A. Rucci & A. Ferreti (TRE-Altamira).

The official language of the Autumn school and seminar is English.

Registration: free but compulsory before 15 September 2019.

Abstract submission: before 15 July 2019.
