The successful candidate will be integrated into a growing and dynamic working group which has a strong focus on the future carbon balance of northern high latitude permafrost ecosystems. In collaboration with the group, the research associate will advance global soil models by processes specific for permafrost ecosystems, in particular biogeochemical processes and frost action processes. Such advanced models will enable a more valid simulation of permafrost carbon dynamics during the past and into the future. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to establish their own research programme in the field of permafrost ecosystem dynamics. Therefore, first ideas about it are expected in the cover letter. This position includes 4 teaching hours per week in the Geoscience BSc or MSc programmes.
