The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS) is recruiting a Masters-level scientist/engineer for optical measurements.

Contract until December 2022 with possible extension if funding permits.

Context

The person will work in the team REMSEM (Remote Sensing and Ecosystem Monitoring) in the Operational Directorate Natural Environment (OD Nature) of the RBINS and will work on projects in the field of satellite data validation with measurementsof waterreflectance. The REMSEM team uses satellite data to measure parameters of environmental relevancesuch as the concentrations of chlorophyll a (phytoplankton) and suspended sediments.

Tasks

The main task consists of optical measurements, including instrument and system testing, data acquisition andprocessing and managementof a distributed automated measurement network.
