The team of the Remote Sensing & Topographic LiDAR Research Group (Institute of Geography, University of Innsbruck) is looking for a PhD student with a background and interest in Alpine geomorphology, remote sensing and landslide modelling for the research project PROSLIDE - Integration of static and dynamic landslide controls at multiple-scales using data-driven and physically-based methods exploring new opportunities for the PRediction of shallow landSLIDEs.

Together with partners at the Institute of Earth Observation (EURAC research, South Tyrol, Italy) an interdisciplinary team of scientists will investigate the potential of various remote sensing data to increase the predictive performance of landslide susceptibility models. In a further step, the results of data-driven statistically-based models (focus of EURAC research) and physically-based slope stability models (focus of the University of Innsbruck team) will be integrated and evaluated against existing and newly compiled landslide inventories. The PhD position can be associated with the Doctoral Program Natural Hazards in Mountain Regions of University of Innsbruck.
