- SAR image rectification using an interferometric DEM

Context and objectives

To convert SAR images from their natural slant range co-ordinates into a ground range representation.

Project outcome

Expected scientific results

Very precise method provided the given DEM be accurate in absolute heights.
With the smoothed DEM, a rectification of the SAR image with an internal rms of about 400 m is achieved without using any tie pointing.
Using Zebker’s tie pointing method to derive reliable absolute heights in the major zones and applying the smoothing process to correct elevations in the remaining zones, the differential interferometry technique may produce very accurate DEMs which can then be rectified into high resolution terrain maps.
