On June, 17th from 11:00 to 12:00 CET, EURISY is organizing a webinar dedicated to "Remote sensing of African urban areas for health and vulnerability assessment: results and perspectives from three STEREO-III research projects".
The results of REACT, MAUPP and SLUMAP projects will be presented by 2 STEREO researchers: Catherine Linard and Sabine Vanhuysse.
Sub-Saharan Africa is facing a rapid and uncontrolled urbanisation process, with significant impacts on the health and well-being of urban dwellers. To mitigate such impacts and advance towards SDG 11 “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”, more spatially-detailed and quantitative data are needed to identify the most vulnerable areas.
A better identification of high-risk areas can help decision-makers to better target interventions to the most in need, which is especially important in resource-limited countries.
