Research assistant SW2 “Radar product developer” at RMI

The Earth remote sensing team at the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium is offering a full-time, permanent position. They are looking for an accomplished and exceptionally driven meteorological radar scientist with a specialization in advanced radar product development to become a valued member of their dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing the RMI's weather radar product portfolio. You will take a lead role in conceiving and crafting novel radar products aligned with RMI’s objectives. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring the quality of existing products and leading the development of innovative products utilizing dual-polarization radars. Effective collaboration with internal teams and a diverse range of national and international external stakeholders will be essential for the success of this position. Key responsibilities include:

1. Product Development:

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative radar products, with a focus on dual-polarization radar technology.
  • Drive innovation and stay up to date with the latest advancements in radar technology to incorporate into product development.

2. Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure the reliability and accuracy of weather radar products.
  • Conduct thorough validation and evaluation to meet industry standards and user expectations.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Actively engage with internal teams, users, and regulatory bodies to understand requirements and expectations.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project objectives and user needs.

4. Project Management:

  • Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on project status, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Participate in international bodies, e.g., OPERA consortium.
