Context
To execute the decision of the Council of Ministers on 22 November 2019 concerning the implementation of the Belgian space strategy, the State Secretary for Science Policy approved the STEREO IV programme on 31 March 2022.
The thematic research priorities are:
- Impact of climate change on terrestrial/marine environments (data exploitation, monitoring, modelling, mitigation strategies);
- Advanced Monitoring and Assessment of Hazards (including pandemics);
- Monitoring environment for improved environmental health and biodiversity;
- Geo-information for Sustainable and Green Cities.
Call
This call only concerns EXPLORATION PROJECTS.
This involves small-scale projects whether or not linked to a past BELSPO thematic projects, lasting 2 to 3 years for 1 to 3 teams whether or not rounded out by an international team.
The projects are directed at:
- Investigating new concepts, technologies and sensors (INNOVATION PROJECT); OR
- Exploring a new research track resulting from previous BELSPO remote sensing projects (SPIN-OFF PROJECT).
The call is addressed to Belgian universities, public scientific institutions and non-profit research institutions.
Cooperation with foreign scientific partners is optional but recommended.

- Expression of interest (mandatory): 29 April 2022 at 4 PM
- Research proposals: 15 June 2022 at 4 PM
