STEREO IV – Third call for proposals (2024)
To execute the decision of the Council of Ministers on 22 November 2019 concerning the implementation of the Belgian space strategy, the State Secretary for Science Policy approved the STEREO IV programme on 31 March 2022.
The thematic research priorities are:
- Impact of climate change on terrestrial/marine environments (data exploitation, monitoring, modelling, mitigation strategies);
- Advanced Monitoring and Assessment of Hazards (including pandemics);
- Monitoring environment for improved environmental health and biodiversity;
- Geo-information for Sustainable and Green Cities.
This call concerns exploration projects.
The budget available for this call is in the order of magnitude of 2,2-2,4 M€. This should allow to grant 7 proposals.
Closing dates:
- Expression of interest (mandatory): 14 February 2024 at 4 PM
- Research proposals: 12 April 2024 at 4 PM

DEVELOPMENT OF APPLICATION PROJECTS
Research programme for Earth observation "STEREO IV" - Development of Application.
Forms to complete:
DISSEMINATION AND SUPPORT PROJECTS
These are small short-term projects with a maximum duration of 6 months and a budget not exceeding € 30,000. They concern a.o.:
- Writing up of papers of STEREO III research output not initially foreseen or not yet mature by the end of the project;
- Rendering software written for a specific project accessible for the remote sensing community;
- Dedicated research needed for BELSPO or to support a specific remote sensing field;
- ...

SHARED COST PROJECTS
This type of project offers co-financing for a Belgian partner who was selected for a international, bilateral, regional or national project (in the BRAIN-be programme for example) but did not receive a 100 % financing. Co-funding for a Belgian participation in transnational programmes such as ERA-nets is also possible.
