Throughout Florida, neighbourhoods were flooded, particularly along the state’s western coast, and power outages affected 250,000 residents. Two people died in traffic accidents that police linked to the harsh weather conditions. Cities such as Cedar Key and Crystal River were especially hard-hit, with rising floodwaters affecting low-lying areas.

Data derived from images acquired by the Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellite mission enable global monitoring of hurricanes and cyclones and improve in the scientific understanding of the composition of the atmosphere and extreme weather events.
