The current vacancy is in the Directorate for Sustainable Resources. Its mission is to provide independent scientific evidence to support the development, implementation, evaluation and coherence of EU policies, mainly in the areas of agriculture and rural development, development cooperation, environment and climate change, the blue economy and fisheries, the bio economy, industry and trade.
The vacancy is in the Food Security Unit which contributes to scientific development towards a more effective and efficient management of EU policies related to agriculture and food security.

The jobholder will contribute to the work of the team supporting the assessment of the impact of farming practices on the environment. In particular, the candidate will contribute to the development of a an EU-wide indicator on landscape features based on the 2022 LUCAS survey in support of the environmental evaluation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and European Green Deal.
Central to the position is methodological development for the I.21 impact indicator on landscape features as part of the Performance Monitoring and Evaluation framework of the CAP. A core task relates to the data processing and statistical analysis of the LUCAS landscape feature module gathered on 90.000 points across the EU. Furthermore, analysis regarding the complementarity between remote sensing data (e.g. Copernicus Small Woody Features), the LUCAS in-situ survey, as well as geospatial datasets on landscape features available in Member States will be required.
