- Contribution of data from radar and IR sensors for the survey of oceanic coastal phenomena

Context and objectives

This project is part of the European multi sensor airborne campaign (EMAC 94-95), a collaboration between ESA and JRC to support the preparation of future earth observation programmes, and the development of airborne high resolution sensor complementary to satellite sensors. The domain of the project is the survey of oceanic coastal phenomena: suspended matter, sediment transport, coastal morphology and erosion.

Project outcome

Expected scientific results

C band associated with a vertical polarsiation is best combination to study coastal fringes. Comparison of ESAR data allowed to diagnose an important erosion of the beach.
