Context and objectives
- to investigate the availability of satellite data for Europe;
- to convert data from analogue to digital format;
- to evaluate the geometric accuracy of the satellite images and the techniques to correct geometric distortions;
- to evaluate the possibilities of visual recognition of features and attributes to be extracted from the images.
Project outcome
Expected scientific results
Kosmos KVR 1.00 provides very good information for built-up metropolitan areas. A few control points between printed photographs and existing maps, allow to calculate a rectification model that can be applied throughout the digitizing.
