This image, based on Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) data, shows the surface air temperature for June 2023 in Europe. At more than 0.5°C above the average for the years 1991 to 2020, June 2023 broke the previous record set in June 2019 by a significant margin. Northwest Europe endured record-breaking high temperatures in June. Large areas of the North Atlantic had record-high sea surface temperatures, creating conditions akin to a maritime heatwave around Ireland and the UK.

The Copernicus Climate Change Service delivers reliable information about historical, current, and predicted climate trends in Europe and the rest of the world.
