Context and objectives

To use ERS-1 SAR data to localise active faults in the Pastaza basin in view of the construction of hydroelectric dams.

Project outcome

Expected scientific results

Using ERS-1 SAR images is until now the only way to realise a regional complete cartography of the lineaments and after in situ surveys, active faults of this not well known area of Ecuador.
The results of this study will surely help to determine the best site for the dam that has been proposed.
