ESA's BIOMASS mission has officially completed its commissioning phase, and its data are now open and accessible to everyone.
The mission will significantly reduce uncertainties in estimating forest carbon stocks and fluxes, including those related to deforestation, forest degradation, and regrowth. These insights are essential to better understand the Earth system, to support climate modelling, and to inform evidence‑based environmental policy.
