Welcome to the Belgian EO website
Earth observation has become part of our everyday life. But what exactly is it? This discipline, also named remote sensing, is all about gathering information of the Earth from a distance. Sensors can be located onboard satellites, airplanes or drones. For almost 40 years now, Belgian scientists have been turning satellite aerial data in useful information thanks to the STEREO programme. This website aims to help you discover remote sensing and its innumerably applications, in particular by showcasing the research results and the contributions of our Belgian actors. Whether you're keen to learn how to distinguish individual trees from 800 km up or simply want to enjoy wonderful images, this is a good place to start.
Welcome to the fascinating world of Earth Observation!
