Satellites have been observing the Earth since the early 1960s. The pioneers have long been retired, but many others have taken up the challenge. They are continuously keeping an eye on the Earth, circling in different orbits, acquiring images in a wide range of spatial resolutions thanks to ever more sophisticated instruments.
